Notification In line with recent developments on the construction front it has been decided to continue with the CMP programme on an annual basis. It will however only happen if the number of suitable candidates warrants the presentation. This is to ensure that this prestigious, internationally recognized post-graduate short programme maintains its quality.  Companies wishing to sponsor prospective delegates are invited to submit their requests as soon as possible to the CMP secretary.

You may already have heard that a chair in Construction Engineering Management was established as of January 2010 in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch. The incumbent is Prof Jan Wium and the intent is for the CMP to be an integrated industry and inter-tertirary activity in this newly formed division. Further details will be posted on the web as they become available.

The programme will again be structured for persons involved in planning, development, design and management of construction delivery. As before, CMP2012 will be presented over a period of four weeks, full-time.  The very successful total emersion learning methodology will be applied to expose the delegates to the very latest theories, tools and techniques in all aspects of business management in the construction sector. Our alumni are to be found in key positions in infrastructure and building development in Africa and around the world.

The Faculty will again be spearheaded by a collaborative effort between tertiary institutions led by the Universities of Stellenbosch. This will be augmented and supported by faculty drawn from a much wider body of experts and practitioners who may be described as the best in their field in South Africa. Several distinguished academics from countries around the world will also be involved. The material and teaching methodologies are highly stimulating and the material is worked through individually and in group assignments.

Content Since the inception of the CMP in 1976 it has always adapted to meet current challenges. The CMP of 2012 is having to face extraordinary times that will require innovation, wisdom and lateral thinking. Although the program of 2011 was already structured to meet exciting times it will naturally be adapted to meet the new challenges.

“CMP provides a unique enabling environment in which experienced industry professionals are able to gain both knowledge and access to extended networking groups”

Richard Evans , Snr Contracts Director - Group Five Civil Engineering (Pty) Ltd;

1997 CMP Delegate
